A foundation that believes in every child's agency
We are a team of educators, psychologists, and volunteers committed to Quito's marginalized children and youth. We receive no government support. We have worked for more than 25 years in the Historic Center, where child labor and exclusion are most acute.

Dr. Mario Piedra, founder of Fundación Sinsoluka for Marginalized Children and Youth, specializes in Psychology, Psycho-rehabilitation, and Special Education. He has extensive experience in the treatment, recovery, and social and family reintegration of children and adolescents living on the streets, as well as in addressing behavioral issues. He also supports children and adolescents affected by drug and alcohol use and abuse. His mission is to reintegrate them into society as productive members.

School support and tutoring
Monday through Friday, in two daily shifts, we guide, supervise, and support children and adolescents in completing their schoolwork to help their academic development. We track their performance and coordinate with schools to ensure they stay enrolled and succeed academically.

Every day we serve a nutritious lunch to the children who attend the foundation. For many, it is the most complete meal of their day. We also accompany them to medical appointments, help with medication, and cover basic personal hygiene needs.

Recreation
Every day, after finishing their schoolwork, the children make the most of the foundation's facilities, letting loose and enjoying healthy fun and play once their tasks are done.
At the end of the school year, those who pass to the next grade take part in the Sinsoluka Summer Program: several weeks of recreational activities, hikes, contests, educational workshops, museum visits, swimming pools, parks, and a final trip to a tourist destination in the country.

Your time can change
a child's life.
Volunteers from all countries are welcome, regardless of Spanish level. Students seeking internships or university placements are also welcome.
I discovered that SINSOLUKA is much more than educational support; it's a true home filled with acceptance and love. Despite the language barrier, the children's example of overcoming challenges teaches us to be more humane and compassionate.

BeneficiaryMy name is Andrés CM. I was orphaned at the age of five. My mother couldn't take care of us because of work, so I looked after my siblings. One day, when I was eight and in fourth grade, we were fortunate enough to find the SINSOLUKA Foundation. This was a huge help to my two siblings, Steven and Vanessa, and we benefited greatly from the foundation's support. Their assistance was fundamental to our personal growth. We didn't waste the opportunity they gave us with food, school supplies, and help with homework. This marked a turning point that motivated us to move forward. I imagine that without their help, our story would have been very different. My brother and I are currently pursuing university degrees, and it seems my sister will follow in our footsteps and continue her studies.
When I was in my sixth semester at university, I had a community service course. In this course, I had to carry out social service activities. When I found out about this, the SINSOLUKA Foundation immediately came to mind, and I decided to do that course at this institution because that's where my goals for self-improvement began. I wanted to give back to the foundation a little of what they did for me and my siblings when we were little.
I really enjoyed being able to help others; it reminds me of the time when my siblings and I used to come here and receive all this help. We also created good experiences here, and simply being able to contribute my help to the foundation was an experience that made me very happy.
My brother is studying Auditing at university, my sister is studying, I graduated with a degree in Business Administration and I work in a company that distributes educational materials.
