The volunteer's role
More than helping:
being present
At Sinsoluka, volunteers work directly with the children and adolescents who attend the foundation every day.
The volunteer supports educators in all program activities: schoolwork, recreation, nutrition, and daily life together. Their steady presence and respectful attitude are just as important as any technical skill they may bring.
This isn't about charity. It's about being present, sharing, and genuinely believing in each child's abilities. The children and young people of Sinsoluka need role models who motivate, guide, and encourage them toward real change and ownership of their lives.
Who you'll be supporting
100 children between 0 and 19 years old
They are children of families in situations of extreme vulnerability: informal workers, indigenous migrants, and Venezuelan and Colombian emigrants.
Many of them have or had parents with addiction problems, informal work, or situations of homelessness. The vast majority are enrolled in school thanks to the foundation's support.
The volunteer works with two groups in different shifts: adolescents in the morning and younger children in the afternoon.

We recommend committing as much time as possible to build a real bond with the children. The more time you stay, the greater your contribution and your experience.
Visit and get to know the project
If you're passing through Quito, you can visit us to learn about our work firsthand. You spend time with the children and the team, and support activities alongside more experienced volunteers.
Educational support volunteering
You support tutoring, homework, and recreational activities alongside the educators. Ideal for those who have time to join the foundation's daily rhythm and get to know the children in depth.
Follow-up volunteering
You take part in visits to the schools where the beneficiaries are enrolled, prepare follow-up reports, and also support volunteers who have just joined the team.
Volunteering with your own project
If you are a student or professional in psychology, social work, education, speech therapy, or a related field, you can carry out your internship or thesis work here, contributing to the project with your specialty.
What will you do?
Activities volunteers take part in
Day to day at Sinsoluka varies. These are the main areas where volunteers can contribute.
Tutoring
You support primary and secondary school children with language, math, English, and other homework. You help with computer use and interactive learning programs.
Visits to schools
You accompany educators on visits to the schools where beneficiaries are enrolled, observe their progress, and prepare follow-up reports.
Recreation and play activities
You organize and join sports activities, games, and outings to parks, museums, and recreational spaces around the city alongside the team of educators.
Educational workshops
You coordinate educational, artistic, or thematic workshops based on your skills and the children's interests, always under the guidance of the educators.
Organization and administration
You help organize the children's files and records, track attendance, and support other administrative tasks at the foundation.
Fundraising and communication
If you have skills in communication, design, or management, you can support activities that help secure resources and partners to sustain the project.
Before you start
What we need from you
Volunteers have the autonomy to take initiative, propose activities, and support the children, always in coordination with the educators.
- Read the volunteer educator profile and manual before starting.
- Set your schedule and attendance days from the start, and stick to them.
- Communicate in Spanish with the children, educators, and other volunteers. The better your level, the stronger your bond with the children.
- Punctual, daily attendance.
- Report any unusual situation you observe to the full-time educators.
What is not allowed is giving money to the children without authorization from the coordinator, showing favoritism among the children, or adopting paternalistic attitudes that don't contribute to their development.
